It turns out that the secret to a happy life is money.
I was recently turned down for a job I thought I was perfect for. They told me it came down to me and another candidate. Naturally, I began to speculate. As a Black woman without a college degree, I know the playing field isn’t always fair. From the moment I read the job description, I was certain I would nail the role.
I meditated, stayed positive, and believed in my chances—but I still didn’t get the job.
I wasn’t devastated, though. It felt more like a colossal mistake on their part. How could it not be me? But then I realized something deeper was at play.
Feeling Defeated and Powerless
It’s easy to feel defeated when you’re broke. You start to wonder, “What will it take to gain even a little control in this process?” I did everything I could. I can’t control the circumstances, but aren’t I supposed to be lucky? Where was my stroke of fortune?
Clearly, luck wasn’t on my side. I felt powerless. What else could I have done? In a job market that feels like a competition, it became apparent—I didn’t have a competitive advantage. But I kept asking myself, “What am I supposed to do next?” After all, people need jobs, right?
Money is Power in the Physical World
I realized something crucial: the control we desperately seek is a desire to harness our power. But in this physical world, that power often comes down to one thing—money. We’re all born with a connection to the Universe, Source, or God, and that connection is supposed to yield unlimited power. But how do we tap into that power? How do we harness it?
It dawned on me that maybe the only way to truly leverage our universal power is by converting it into money.
Reassessing My Financial Identity
I’ve been thinking about my financial situation for some time now. I never imagined that I could lose everything in a matter of months. Facing homelessness was a reality I never expected.
For the longest time, I believed money was a metaphor for love. I convinced myself that because I didn’t have love in my life, I naturally didn’t have money. Maybe I was addicted to being broke, to not having enough. I came up with every creative justification possible to explain something that simply didn’t make sense.
Power and Money Go Hand in Hand
How could someone so smart and talented be broke? How could someone with so many ideas not have any money?
Then it hit me. Maybe I didn’t have money because I wasn’t using my power. I was giving my power away—to everything except myself. I wasn’t investing in myself, my future, or my potential. Feeling powerless and broke felt like one and the same.
In order to have money, I need to use my power. So, how do I start doing that?
Selling My Power to Make Money
In this world, work is the universal language of power exchange. If I’m not working, I’m not using my power wisely. If I’m giving my power away instead of selling it, then I can’t make the money I deserve. Power isn’t just love or understanding—it’s our connection to Source, and it exists in all of us. The less connected I am, the less capable I feel of making money. Ultimately, in this material world, money is what matters.
I used to think I was a rich woman in spirit, but money never resonated with me in a practical way. I didn’t have any, and in fact, I had less than none because I was in severe debt.
I am too great to live in lack, especially with the creativity I’ve been blessed with. It’s not about what you know how to do—it’s about what you actually do.
The Path to Financial Empowerment
If I don’t sell something—whether it’s my skills, ideas, or abilities—then I won’t exchange my God-given gifts for the money I need to live. Without that exchange, those gifts become almost worthless. I become almost worthless.
But I know I’m powerful. I know I can make money because I’ve done it before.
So, my plan isn’t just to transform my ideas into money. It’s to sell my ideas. It’s to sell myself. I believe in my abilities, but I’ve learned that sometimes we don’t fully accept our greatness, or we simply don’t know how to use it.
My journey ahead is about embracing my power and learning how to use it to create the wealth I deserve.
