Life Lessons I Learned From Anna Delvey

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to become the greatest version of yourself.

The good news is, you’re already on your way. The world is full of reminders that we are meant for greatness, so why do so many people fail to live up to their potential?

Why do so many people wish for their dream life instead of becoming who they are meant to be? Lessons in the Bible tell us that we are made in God’s image and possess a power greater than any force in the Universe. We are one with a magnificent force. We hold the power to create anything, so why don’t we?

I’m a firm believer that people only do what they know how to do. They do what’s easy. They take the path of least resistance, even if it leads nowhere. In order to fulfill our destiny, the instructions humans have been given since the days Jesus walked the Earth must be learned, studied, and applied relentlessly.

Power Principle #1, and the most important, is getting out of our own way.

As the quote goes, “How do you make a statue of an elephant? Get the biggest granite block you can find and chip away everything that doesn’t look like an elephant.”

You are made for greatness.

Everything within you, or taught to you, that doesn’t contribute to your destiny—get rid of it. There are no setbacks. There is no problem that exists except in our own minds, but our minds are powerful.

So much of what we see and believe is colored by the thoughts and opinions of others. We are gullible. We easily believe what we see, except life is meant to contain what is unseen or yet to be seen. We are made to create the life we want.

We are meant to have whatever we desire through faith and desire alone. These lessons have been developed and shared for centuries, yet they remain so difficult for many to accept and believe.

So what can a fake heiress teach us about belief and becoming?

Anna Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey, is a con artist and fraudster who posed as a wealthy heiress to access upper-class New York social and art scenes from 2013 to 2017. Born to working-class parents in the Soviet Union, Sorokin emigrated from Russia to Germany with her family at the age of 16 in 2007.

She created a story, and convinced others of its validity to the tune of $275,000 yet here you are, being honest, and honestly broke. She lived it completely untethered to truth, rules, or fear of judgment. She spent time in jail and, despite incarceration, still managed to move forward to an even better life than the one she had created through lies.

Some might not be willing to sacrifice their freedom or commit crimes (which I don’t recommend), but Power Principle #7 tells us that success excuses errors.

If a goal is important enough, any method of achieving it is acceptable. Don’t let society tell you what is acceptable or not.

What I’ve learned from Anna Delvey is simple: when you want something, you have to do what it takes to get it.
